Grading System

A student is graded on both written and practical examinations in all subjects. To successfully complete each course, a student must achieve a Satisfactory Rating (a grade of 70% or better). Any tests missed due to absence must be made up as soon as the student returns to class, or not more than ten (10) days from the date of absence.

Grade Key
A = 100-90 S = Satisfactory
B = 89-80 S = Satisfactory
C = 79-70 S = Satisfactory
F = 69 or lower U = Unsatisfactory

Graduation

To graduate from the Institute, a student must have

  • Regular and prompt attendance at regularly scheduled classes.
  • A cumulative grade of Satisfactory on both Written Tests and Practical Reviews.
  • Completion of 450 hours of coursework.
  • 50 hours of internship.

Probation Policy and Terms of Probation

A student may be placed on probation at the discretion of the Director of the Institute. A student who is making Unsatisfactory progress at the end of a grading period will be placed on probation for the next grading period. If the student on probation achieves Satisfactory progress for the subsequent grading period, but has not achieved the required grades to fulfill overall Satisfactory progress for the program, the student’s probation may continue for one more grading period. The Director’s decision in this matter is final.

Reasons for taking a Probationary action are as follows:

  1. Absence from class – a student is allowed an accumulation of four absences, tardies, or early dismissals, which must be made up at the first possible opportunity.
  2. Academics – a student must maintain an overall average of at least 70% (Satisfactory) on practical exams and other assignments. Failure to maintain an average 70% (Satisfactory) on practical exams and other assignments is cause for a student to be placed on probation. After the first probation, a student may be terminated if progress remains unsatisfactory.
  3. Rules – failure to abide by the rules and regulations of the Institute.
  4. Financial – failure to abide by the rules and regulations of the Institute.
